RUMPS?

Okay, acronyms aren’t usually our thing, It’s ReUsable Menstrual Products.

There are menstrual products and there are reusable menstrual products. If they’re not reusable they’re single use, disposable.

The go-to products for managing your flow were histrically tampons and slips. They’re conveniently wrapped individually and they’re so easy to use, throw and replace. But that’s a lot of wrapping, packaging and waste.

Washable slips and pads are common enough these days, all but unheard of a decade ago they are now found on supermarket shelves. Wash and reuse.

Menstrual cups are the classic product which made “reusable” seem normal, with many pioneers it was the Mooncup in the UK which reset the playing field, since then menstrual cups have come along into the mainstream. Now over 200 brands are available in any colour and in any quality. From the medical grade silicone, through to the cheap and nasty ‘Eastern’ imports with odd smelling plastic.

The final RUMP we will mention is the sponge tampon. The most natural option by far, we’re talking about natural sea sponges, grown naturally in the sea, ethically harvested, treated, cleaned and then hand trimmed to an optimal size and shape to serve as a tampon. 

Just "wet, twist & insert". And then later "remove, rinse & replace". The lower grade sponges from the Caribbean typically last two or three months whereas the higher grade sponges from the Mediterranean tend to last for over six months use.
